This Reborn Kawasaki ER-6n Is Any Cafe Racer Enthusiast’s Dream Ride

In the past, we checked out GiaMi Motorcycles’ spectacular range to drool over a couple of their most notable exploits, namely a flawless 1997 Suzuki Inazuma 400 and one neat Kawasaki Z1000 with cafe racer vibes. Needless to say, the Italian workshop hosts some serious talent under its roof, and its one-off pieces of motorcycle artwork demonstrate the crew’s incredible abilities.

Today, we’ll be taking our time to analyze yet another fascinating creature born on GiaMi’s premises. The donor bike for this cafe racer-style project was a vicious ER-6n from Kawasaki’s almighty lineup. In stock form, this bad boy is put in motion by a liquid-cooled DOHC parallel-twin mill, with eight valves and a respectable displacement of 649cc.

At about 8,500 rpm, the four-stroke engine is more than happy to deliver as much as 72 hp, along with 49 pound-feet (66 Nm) of twist at 7,000 revs. A six-speed gearbox feeds the engine’s force to a chain final drive, leading to a generous top speed of no less than 124 mph (200 kph).

When this remarkable piece of two-wheeled machinery landed on GiaMi’s doorstep, the team kicked things off by focusing on a few handling upgrades meant at making Kawasaki’s beast perform like a gem on the tarmac. For starters, the bike’s front end was honored with the ZX-6R's adjustable forks, while rear suspension duties got taken care of by a Honda CBR600RR’s monoshock unit.

Next, the original wheels were disposed of to make way for those from a Ninja. As soon as the hoops were installed, Italy’s gifted moto masters went about fabricating an aluminum tail section that wears an aftermarket LED rear lighting kit and a handsome pillion seat, as well as a fresh seat pan supporting a bespoke leather saddle.

At the other end, you will find a retro-style headlight unit with a diameter of seven inches (178 mm). To enable the 649cc parallel-twin powerplant to breathe a little more freely, ER-6n's airbox was replaced by K&N filters. Oh, and don’t you even get me started on that glittery color scheme, okay? It comes across as the cherry on top of the cake for a build what was already sensational.
